Gilbert is an actor, performer and musician. He is a founder member of Unpacked Theatre Company and plays the ukulele, trombone and trumpet. He can ride the unicycle.
He is currently working on a new show for children called ‘Three Tiny Seeds’ with Emma Higham and will appear in dreamthinkspeaks’ Brighton Festival show ‘The Rest is Silence’. He has worked at the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon as Wilbur the Pig in ‘Charlotte’s Web’ and in their production of Quentin Blake's 'All Join In'. Gilbert recently collaborated with danteordie on a new show, with Nonesuch Theatre Company at the Unicorn Theatre on ‘The Golden Goose' and with the Berry Theatre on ‘Hansel & Gretel’. For Unpacked he performs in 'Robin and the Big Freeze', 'Jumping Mouse', 'Funeral Games' & 'The Fourth Violin from the Left' for which he was nominated Best Actor Award at the Brighton Fringe Festival, he also performed in 'Paramour' for Chopped Logic. Other work includes voiceovers for 'MI High' (Xenophile Media) and 'See Hear' (BBC). Gilbert has an MA from the Central School of Speech and Drama and a BA in Drama & Theatre studies from the University of Surrey.
Gilbert offers workshops specialising in physical devising, object animation and storytelling techniques for schools and colleges. He likes biscuits and lives by the sea in Brighton.

Passed an audition for ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’ week of R&D at the Little Angel Theatre in June despite car crashing my way through a rendition of ‘Stormy Weather’. Pete Glanville directing, Michael Rosen wrote it and Barb Jungr is doing the music! Can’t wait!

Had a great week working with Passe-Muraile, Little Green Pigs and New Writing South on the second part of this project which culminated in a performance at the Pavilion Theatre Brighton on Saturday as part of the Children’s Festival.

Unpacked Theatre Company performed ‘Robin and the Big Freeze’ at this event as well as shows from Peut-etre and Hiccup. Lyn Gardner chaired the Plenary afterwards. It was a day to discuss the many aspects and hardships of being a touring theatre company and how to make good quality work for children. Sarah Brigham organised this event and hosted it at the wonderful Point in Eastleigh.
